How Do Friction Note Counters Work? A feed-in
roller below the banknote stack above the counter contacts the lowermost
bill. As the feed in roller rotates, it feeds the lowermost banknote
to a paying-out roller which grasps the note and rotates at a faster
speed. To provide the double feeding of creased bills, low friction
flanges are provided on each side of the paying-out roller.
